What is Rittal Ri4Power and why does it matter for LV switchboards?

Ri4Power is Rittal’s modular low-voltage switchboard system: enclosures, busbar supports, connection components and design software verified together as one system to IEC 61439. Building on a verified system means the assembly’s critical ratings rest on laboratory evidence for that exact combination of parts, not on workshop judgement.

IEC 61439-1 and IEC 61439-2 require an assembly’s design to be verified — temperature rise, short-circuit withstand, dielectric properties, clearances and creepage, and the effectiveness of the protective circuit among them. Verifying a one-off fabricated design for every project is impractical, which is why licensed system platforms exist: the system owner carries out the verification programme on defined configurations, and the licensed panel builder manufactures within those verified rules.

For a buyer, the practical difference shows up at three moments: when the consultant asks for design-verification evidence at drawing approval, when the panel faces its first real fault, and when the plant is extended years later and the original design data is needed again.

What does Wisdom Techno Solutions build on the Ri4Power platform?

Power control centres, motor control centres, PMCC panels and distribution switchboards on Ri4Power busbar systems up to 6300 A, in copper or aluminium, up to Form 4B Type II separation. Wisdom Techno Solutions has been a Rittal Solutions Partner since 2021 and manufactures at Kotambi, Vadodara.

Panels are engineered with Rittal’s system design tools, built with Rittal enclosures and busbar components, and routine-verified in the works before dispatch — dielectric test, protective-circuit continuity, wiring and operation checks, and insulation resistance among them, with the routine test report shipped with the board.

Typical duties include plant incomers and PCC sections, motor control line-ups for process industries, and distribution boards for infrastructure and solar projects across India.

Is a panel built in a Rittal enclosure the same as a Ri4Power assembly?

No — and this is the distinction buyers most often miss. A locally fabricated panel that merely uses a Rittal enclosure is not a Ri4Power assembly. Ri4Power means the busbar system, supports, connections and configuration all follow Rittal’s verified system design, built by a licensed partner.

Any workshop can purchase a Rittal enclosure. The enclosure alone carries none of the system’s design verification: the verified ratings belong to the complete, defined combination of enclosure, busbar geometry, supports and components assembled per the system documentation. If a specification calls for a design-verified assembly, asking "is this a Ri4Power build by a licensed partner, and can you show the system evidence?" is the fastest way to separate the two.

Which breaker makes can be integrated in a Ri4Power switchboard?

ACBs and MCCBs from the major makes — including ABB, Schneider Electric and Siemens — are integrated per the verified combinations defined in the Ri4Power system documentation, so the breaker, busbar connection and compartment work as one verified arrangement.

Feeder line-ups, metering sections and motor starters are engineered around the selected breaker make, and interchangeability across future extensions is preserved by staying within the system’s defined configurations.

What evidence ships with a Ri4Power switchboard from WTS?

The design-verification reference for the Ri4Power system (Intertek ASTA, IEC 61439-1/-2, Ed. 3 busbar system), the works routine test report for your specific board, general arrangement and single-line drawings, and the applicable component certificates.

That documentation set is what a consultant checks at approval and what a plant auditor asks for years later. It travels with the board — not as a marketing claim, but as the paper trail behind every rating on the nameplate.

Where does WTS supply Ri4Power switchboards?

Manufactured at Vadodara, Gujarat, and supplied across India — Gujarat’s industrial belts, and project sites nationwide through EPC contractors and plant owners. Site support and commissioning assistance are available with the supply.
